Source

The Source code tracks where the name record came from. In other words, what fundraising source generated this name. It allows you to produce a report showing where your new names came from. It is very similar to gifts in that it is using your appeal code list. When an appeal code is used with a gift it is considered a gift characteristic. When that same appeal code is used for a name it is considered a name characteristic.

You can find the Source/Appeal code field on the name page by clicking the Names button on the left then Name List Management. Select a name and you'll find the field in the Development Management section.

You will notice that it's called an Appeal Code here and as mentioned earlier, it uses the same Appeal Code list as gifts and pledges. To create a new Appeal Code, follow the same process as explained in the gift codes section.
