Name Code

Click the Names link on the left and then Name List Management. Select a name record. You'll find the Name Code field at the top of the name page on the right.

Notice that this field is a free-form field. That means that you can type anything you want there. That is both good and bad. Its good because you can type anything you want. Its bad because you may type something one way while someone else may type it differently. When it comes time to use that field as a filter in a report those different ways of entering the code will cause Denari to not give you a complete list. So for the most part this field should not be used for coding donors. It can be used, however, for display. Visually you can use that field to pick out certain types of name records if you have a need for that. For example, you may want to know that his donor speaks Spanish.

Advanced Search

You can also use it as a search function. Click the Names link on the left again and then Name List Management. Select the Advanced search option in the upper left. Now click one of the drop down search fields and you'll find Name Code there near the top. You could now enter 'Spanish' in the Like Value field to find the names that have that in their Name Code field.
