Campaign Codes

Campaigns primarily provide a grouping function for Appeal Codes. Appeal Codes track your fundraising efforts so Campaigns represent groups of those efforts. To illustrate, let’s say that someone from your organization does multiple speaking events throughout the year and the invitation is given to make a donation at those events. You could then create an appeal code for each event and all gifts from that event will be entered with that appeal code. To make reporting and tracking a little easier you could create a Campaign called ‘Speaking Events and maybe add the year there’.Then link all of those appeal codes to that campaign. Now when you need to produce a report to evaluate those events you can simply tell Denari to give you the gifts for that campaign.

Campaigns also have a second purpose related to credit card and EFT donations. Pledges that will drive credit card and electronic fund transfers (EFT) must have an appeal code linked to a campaign. Let’s look at how we create the campaign record.

Click the plus sign at the top of the page and then click on Campaigns. This page shows you all of the existing campaigns. Click Add New to create a new campaign record. Or, you can select an existing record to edit.

Campaign Codes
1

Description

This is for you and tells you and your other staff members what this campaign is about. In our example, we might type ‘Speaking Events 2016’.
2

Campaign Code

This is for Denari and tells Denari that this campaign record is different from all other campaigns so it must be unique. You can't have two campaign codes that are the same. You can keep it short and simple so, following our example, you could enter SE16.
3

Active ?

Uncheck the box to make this campaign inactive and no longer able to be used.
4

SAT Fields

The Sharathon fields (SAT) are covered in the SAT section.
5

Start & End Dates

The Campaign Start and End Dates are for informational purposes only. They tell you the time period for this campaign. They cannot be filtered on for a report.
6

Default Fund

This field is informational only. It allows you to indicate a fund that is used related to this campaign. For example, when a gift is made using an appeal code that is linked to this campaign, this can be a reminder of the fund that is most often used for that type of gift.
7

Thank You ID

This field is the reason that any appeal code used for on-going credit card and electronic fund transfer donations or donations through Online Community must be linked to a campaign. When Denari makes a gift record from one of these two sources, it follows the link from the appeal to the campaign and then uses the letter body selected here in the gift record. When you then print thank you receipts for that gift, that letter body will be used.
