Department Codes
Department Codes provide a grouping function for Fund Codes and are optional. They can be used to make reporting on a large number of fund codes easier. An example... Members of your staff raise personal support and you have set up a fund code for each one. At some point, you may want to get a report showing the gifts to each of those funds. You can produce a report for each fund one-by-one or you can produce a report for all of those funds, but list them one-by-one. But, if you have linked those funds to a Department code, you can produce a report for that Department which would then include all of those donations.
You can set up a new Department code by clicking the Plus sign at the top of the Denari page. Select Departments from the menu. That page shows a list of all existing Department codes. You can select and existing code to edit or Click Add New to create a new code. Set up requires only two fields.
Description
This field is for you. It tells you and other staff members what this Department is about. You can make it anything you want using letters, numbers, slashes, dashes, etc.
This field is for Denari. It tells Denari that this record is different from any other in Denari therefore, it must be unique. You can't have two Department codes with the same code. You can use letters and numbers.
