This button will take you back to the main list. For example, if you are on a name record, clicking this will take you to the page that shows you all of your name records where you can search and select another. If you are on a batch, this button will take you to the list of batches. If you are in a name segment, it will take you to the list of name segments.
Click to Add a New record. This is relative to the page you are on. If you are on a name page, it will add a new name record. If you are on a gift record page, it will add a new gift.
Click to delete the record you are on. Denari, like most databases, is a relational database. That means that the data is stored in tables. Name information is stored in the Names table, gift information in the Gifts table, etc. The gifts are linked to the names. Pledges are linked to names. Classifications are linked to names, and so on. If you delete a name that has other records linked to it, you have what is called an 'Orphaned Record'. The gift records, for example, are linked to nothing and that can cause problems with the data. To prevent that, Denari won't allow you to delete most records that have links to other records. When you click the delete button, you may see a message telling you that the record can't be deleted because it is linked to other records. Sometimes those records are linked deep within the data so finding the links and cutting them off can be nearly impossible. Denari will always choose to be cautious when deleting records and it is best to accept the message and move on.
Some name records won't display the delete button. That simply means that the name record has gifts linked to it and Denari is preventing you from making the deletion.
Some pages have a print button and some do not. If a report is available for that page you will see the print button. On the name page, hitting that button will run a summary report of the name record and put that report in the Denari In Box.
This button will take you to a page that allows you to change the names of the fields as they appear on the page. For example, if another term for 'Dear' makes more sense to you and other staff members, you can click the button, find that field, and change the field name. It is important to note that it only changes the field on that page as you see it. It does not change the underlying data. Therefore, if you print a report that includes that field it will still say 'Dear'.
This page also holds the security settings for each field on the page. That will be covered in the section on Security Settings.
