Standard Reports

Standard Reports give you the ability to use some filters for your reports but the outputs are predefined. Click the Reports link on the left. Many of the reports found on this page are considered Standard Reports. To see an example, click on Gifts. This page shows a list of gift related reports. A good example is Detail Gift Listing.

The bottom of the page shows the filter options for the report. Filters simply allow you to get selected records. For example, near the top is the Start and End Date fields. Enter a date range there to filter the results by date. Or, below that, use a Relative Date Range. Relative means “Relative To Today” so you can choose ‘This Month’ to get a list of gifts for the month you are in when you run the report.

You can filter by Batch Number to get a list of gifts in a range of batches.

Use Low and High Amount to find gifts within a range of dollar amounts.

To find the gifts for a specific donor use Account number.

Enter a range of Fund Codes to get a list of gifts with those fund codes. Denari looks at fields like this either alphabetically or numerically. For example, if you enter the fund code 'APPLE' in the Start Code field and enter 'ORANGE' in the Ending Code field you will get all gifts with code alphabetically between APPLE and ORANGE.

You can also create a gift segment to select other filters found there for this report. Check out the Gift Segment document for more information.

In almost all reports in Denari, no filters are required. You only use the filters that give you what you want. In this report, you might want to limit this to a date range only and that will give you all gifts in that date range. You don’t then need the batch number fields, amount fields, etc. Remember, only use the filters you need. Nothing more.

Standard Reports give you the ability to apply some filters. However, you can’t change the format of the output. This report is called ‘Detail Gift Listing’. It is going to come back to your In Box in a PDF format. The word ‘Detail’ here means every gift. So you are going to see a list of gifts in the format of the report. To run the report, click the Submit Request button at the top.

Go back to the Reports link again and then Gifts.

Again, you see a list of gift related reports that all work in a similar way. Some of the reports have the initials RS following. Those indicate reports that work in the Reporting Services format you saw in the Quick Reports. The others all come to your In Box as PDFs. If you click the Names link you will see a list of reports that are name related. The pledges link will give you pledge related reports, etc.

It is best to familiarize yourself with each of the Standard Reports and what they do. They provide you with a number of report options that are fairly simple to use and provide a variety of outputs. In addition they can be memorized and set to run automatically on a schedule. Check out the section on Memorize Reports for more information.

If one of the Standard Reports meets your report needs you can stop here, however, if you would like more flexibility you can move to the Segmenters.
