Purge Names

Denari does not allow you to delete name records with gifts because of the danger to your data. Deleting a name record with gifts can cause what is called an 'Orphaned Record' which could cause your data to be unreliable. However, you can remove names without gifts. You can delete them one at a time by clicking on the Names button on the left then selecting the name record you want to delete. Once the record is open, click the X button and the record will be deleted.

 

You can also remove or Purge names without gifts as a group using a date as the filter. Click the Gear icon at the top of the page then Purge Names.

 

 

Simply enter a Target Date and click the Purge Names button in the Quick Actions section. Denari will find all of the name records that were added to your data before that date who have never given a gift and delete them. It uses the Introduction Date in the name record to compare against your target date.

 

Note: This cannot be reversed. Once deleted, they are gone. You may want to use a Name Segment to get a list of names prior to your target date and review that list before you run this process.
