EFT Donor Notices

To legally withdraw donations from a donor's bank account on an on-going basis you must either have written permission from the donor in your files or notify the donor that a transaction has occurred and give them an opportunity to stop future transactions. You must select an option in the EFT Authorization Type field in the pledge record.

The EFT Authorization Type field contains three options...

If you have a Written Permission on file in your office, you can select option C. No further action is required.

If the donor has established the pledge with you by Telephone then permission must be obtained in one of two ways. First, you can request that the donor sign a consent form and you can keep that on file. Change the Type here to Paper Signature on File. If you can't get written permission, or don't want to try, you can let Denari handle it. After each EFT transaction, Denari will send an email with the legal language required. It let's the donor know that the transaction has taken place and gives them them the option to contact you to stop any future transactions. It also gives them a link to a page that will allow them to give you blanket permission going forward. If they select that, Denari will change the Type to Paper Signature on File. While there is no actual paper on file, it serves the same purpose and meets the legal requirements.

If they don’t have an email address Denari will produce a printed document that you can print and put in the mail. You'll find a link to those documents on the batch page for EFT batches. You can print those and then drop them in the mail. Unfortunately, that will need to be done after each transaction unless the donor will sign he permission form.

The last option is Website by Donor. If the donor makes a pledge through your Online Community page, that is legally seen as giving permission. It is the same as having the Printed Signature on File. Denari will select that option in the field when the pledge is made. It does not require that email be sent or any further permission be obtained.
